TRACTOR FEATURES:

Tractor is mostly stock.
A full length deck plate added.
Pogo stick and coiled service lines added mid-frame.

TRAILER FEATURES:

Tandem moved all the way to the rear.
Side rails and roof painted silver to match the prototype.
Thermo-King and battery boxes painted blue to match the prototype.
Marker lights added to front, upper and lower sides, and the rear.

This truck is so cool. I stretched the frame and made a full length deck plate and added a round driveshaft cover. An airbox was added to the deck plate. Again, the stacks are scale 7” diameter. The truck also features Fatjack’s turned aluminum fuel tanks with chrome straps and chrome filler caps. The trailer is stock.

This truck features Fatjack’s turned aluminum air cleaners and turned aluminum fuel tanks with chrome filler caps and straps. It also has round air horns, custom half fenders, and Fatjack’s frame-mounted airbox. The trailer is lettered for Bontrager along with my laughing jackass icon.

It’s extremely rare for me to sell a truck that I built for my personal collection, but I sold this truck.

One thing very unique with this truck is stacks that scale out to 7” diameter, which matches the size of many real trucks. I used aluminum tubing to do this, and then buffed them out to a high luster finish. The fuel tanks are Fatjack’s turned aluminum with wide chrome straps. I also added round air horns and a full length deck plate, and it has a modified sun visor. I also lettered the trailer.

The details on this truck include much more than just gluing on parts.

The 20” wide stainless steel bumper is fabricated and buffed to a chrome-like finish in my shop.
Notice full tilting of the hood with my bumper.
The CB antennas are scale size.
The front fender mudflaps are made in my shop.
The special contoured rear frame cover was fabricated and buffed in my shop.
The single long deck plate was fabricated in my shop.

NOTES ON THE TRI-STATE COLLECTION

The trucks I have modeled were in the era of the early to mid 1990s, and most were A-model Kenworths, which are not made in diecast, so I used the W900L. The trailers also had the original Tri-State lettering, which also is not available in diecast. So the models are not exact replications, but rather my efforts were to capture the essence of the prototype, which I believe I have accomplished very well.
I also have all of the stock Tri-State Commodities trucks in my collection.
