ANTIQUE TRUCKS--RESTORED PHOTO ENLARGEMENTS

Fatjack's is now offering reprints of a select group of photographs from David A. Bontrager's private collection (the collection is in excess of 50,000 images) for others to enjoy. These historical and collectible photos of vintage antique trucks would be nice additions to a collection of trucking memorabilia. The photos would be ideal in an office, den, hobby room, or would even add a touch of nostalgia to a diner. The photo is imprinted at the bottom with David's name, and at the request of the buyer, David will hand sign the photo.

Long wheelbase, Peterbilt--Ringsby Truck Lines, Denver, CO operated a large refrigerated division comprised of owner-operators leased to the company. The refrigerated division operated into the 55' states, but with the long wheelbase this Pete has, it was captive to the western states with longer length laws. The American trailer has an underslung (belly-mount) reefer unit, and is loading meat at Pepper Packing Co. in Denver. The photo is an impressive image of a classic truck and also of a meat packer from the glory days of packing companies in Denver. Picture was taken in 1962. Photographer - David Bontrager

YELLOW TRANSIT - predecessor to Yellow Freight System. The photo is an unique image of a bygone era of trucking.  The tractor is a single-axle Kenworth CBE (Cab Beside Engine) daycab, better known as a Half-Cab KW. Exact location of photo was not recorded, but I believe it was on U.S. Highway 40 in Indiana. The truck is parked at a Yellow relay point that used a former Cities Service gas station. Gateway Transport Co., Kendallville Indiana Relay. The lineup of White road tractors is at the relay point on U.S. Highway 6 at Kendallville, IN in 1961. The photo was taken at dusk and is a little dark, but the details show. The sun had already gone down and the only available light was from the bright sky, producing a very unique image. B-61 Mack w/ box sleeper -Lease Operator, B. F. Walker, Inc. Photo taken in 1964 at Pueblo, CO. During this era, B. F. Walker, Inc. was a well known carrier of oil field pipe. Those of you familiar with oil field pipe know that pipe stacked this high means that this well-kept B-61 has a heavy load.
